DiskMonitor - for Windows Vista, XP, Server 2003, 2000, and NT

Smart Disk Monitor

About DiskMonitor

DiskMonitor is a powerful tool that enables systems administrators to centrally monitor disk drives.

DiskMonitor automatically enumerates available networks and allows you to select disks to monitor and shares to iterate (admin access required). Critical and warning thresholds can be set. When the thresholds are crossed, DiskMonitor can send a detailed message, a PDA friendly message, or a user defined email message to any set of users.

System administrators can also configure DiskMonitor to generate directory usage reports. Each report can be generated on their own schedule and results emailed.

DiskMonitor can also be configured to append disk usage information to a file enabling system administrators to view usage graphically over time.

The user interface enables system administrators to sort disk or directory usage by name, size, or number of files.

Architecture

DiskMonitor consists of three major components:

The viewer or user interface. The user interface is used to manually view usage and configure the Windows Service for scheduled monitoring and reporting.

The Windows Service. The service monitors disk drives per schedules you define. When polled, the service generates all configured directory based reports and fires all alerts.

The Tray Icon. The tray icon changes depending on the notification status. When the service polls disk drive usage the highest alert level is reflected in the tray icon. When the alerts status is cleared, the tray icon changes its image back to normal.
